Why Buy an Expensive Piece of Art?
A question that enters a lot of people's minds before they buy a particular piece of art is why is this so expensive?
Art is a particular talent that is very difficult to put a price tag on. It is said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this holds true for art. For an artist to be able to create their paintings it takes a great amount of emotional fortitude and creativity especially to express what they're feeling. Not everyone is as emotional and free flowing and can express themselves like an artist can.
It is said that people buy art to be able to portray them in such a way that they would not be able to do without the particular piece of art that they have. In other words they purchase a piece of art because they are able to relate to the artists creation. Of course paintings can come in varying types of settings, expressions, symbols etc.; the list goes on and on. This is also why it's very difficult for anyone to be able to interpret a piece of art with any degree of exact certainty because it can mean different things to different people.
The more moving/emotional a piece of art is then the more valuable it generally is interpreted to be in a buyer's mind. It is said that there are a lot of starving artists trying to make a living. There are some artists that don't see any income in their entire lifetime.
Many people believe that expensive pieces of art are a symbol of status. This would mean that the more expensive the art the wealthier the individual is. This is not necessarily true, but it certainly does seem that the wealthy individuals can afford more art.
Aside from everything else paintings and artwork are a way to add value to your home. They offer more variety and life to a room that would not otherwise be available. No one wants to see four plain white walls when they walk into your house. In a word it's just boring. Spruce up your living quarters with some lively pieces of artwork, not only will it enhance your room, and add variety, but it will also change the mood. It has been noted that more pleasant colors (green, light blue, and other light colors) in paint that are on the walls in your home improve the overall mood. Well the same can be said about paintings and how they can affect mood and tone. Darker more satire-esque paintings present depressing and gloomy environments. On the there hand, bright and colorful paintings present more lively and uplifting environments.
In the end how you decorate your home and how much you spend on art/paintings is your own choice. You don't necessarily have to spend a lot of money to get a quality piece of art. Many people buy expensive pieces of art because there are better known and get more attention. Remember that different pieces of art can relay varying types of emotions and you want to hit upon the right tone for that room.
